Sofia Carbajo was born in San Carlos de Bariloche, in Argentina, in 1969. She grew up in Buenos Aires where her mother, who is also an artist, encouraged her to draw and paint from an early age. In 1990 she moved to London to study marketing and public relations. Here she also got her degree in drawing and painting from the London Art College.

Sofia has since mostly specialised in watercolours. She attended various drawing and painting workshops, amongst others Triesma in The Hague, The Netherlands, Tony Kane's watercolour atelier in London, and the prestigious Triveni  Gallery in New Delhi, India,. In 2008 Sofia settled in The Netherlands, where she further improved her technique, not only in watercolours, but also with oils and acrylics, working with Tair Zairov in Didam and Helen Cramer in Beek.

In the past 25 years Sofia lived and traveled in many countries, like Turkey, Albania, Guatemala, Ethiopia, China, Haiti, India en Indonesia. Here she got most of her inspiration from the places, the people and the cultures she experienced.

Sofia’s work has found its way into private collections in Germany, Switserland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, the UK, Sweden, Australia, Argentina, Canada, the US, Haiti and India.
